It's been a long time since we've last filmed an episode, so we're a tad rusty, forgive us. On this latest ep, we talk about urban horror flick, CANDYMAN!

Ash and Stacey are huge fans of this one and decided to talk about their love for it, Stacey's first time viewing experience of it which led to her unfortunate 1st grade PTSD, and our opinion that the big man himself, Candyman, is a largely underappreciated horror villain.

I think what initially drew me to wanting to see Xavier Gen's adaptation of the novel, Cold Skin, was the poster art above. Check that cool shit out. Then the plot synopsis got me; if it takes place near the Arctic and involves creatures I'm immediately thrown into John Carpenter's The Thing and am all in. Cold Skin isn't as balls out and gross as the Carpenter classic and unfortunately, it's not going to be as memorable either.

Call me a sucker for any supernatural flicks involving witches, double points if it takes place in rural farmhouses. Oh hey, whaddya know, Andy Mitton's The Witch in the Window has all of that! Ok, it has all of that but doesn't exactly go down like you would think it does.

Man, I have such fond memories of renting the earlier titles on VHS when I was a little gal and not so much being scare of them, but being fun-scared! Is that a thing? Well, I'm making it a thing! You know what I mean, though? The puppets were murderous and ugly and creepy and I should have been TERRIFIED of them flat out, but they were also almost like the anti-heroes and at times I would find myself rooting for them.

It doesn't seem like that's the case in Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich, however. The master, Toulon (played by none other than Udo Kier), was an evil one this time around, and his minions followed suit, killing innocent (for the most part) people. At the writing helm was S. Craig Zahler who was responsible for films like Bone Tomahawk and Brawl in Cell Block 99, so I knew it was going to be a bloody good time.

I know I wasn't the only one who was really excited to see Krzykowski's feature length debut based off of the title alone- but couple that with THE Sam Elliott in the lead?? C'mon, it was a no-brainer that I was going to have to see this with my own eyes and report back to my readers about this one. And check out that awesome poster (I was tweeted earlier today and informed that the poster art was created by Johnny Tabor)!

Ok ok, I'm going to have to pump the brakes and let you all know that what you're going to find yourself getting into isn't exactly what you're thinking. And I can say that confidently because I'm sure that we ALL had an idea of what we thought this movie was going to be about. Well, it wasn't exactly...and that's not a bad thing!

THE NUN trailer dropped today!

If you saw The Conjuring 2 then you're well aware of the demon ass nun in the movie. Well, they decided to give her her own spin-off movie cleverly titled The Nun (directed by Corin Hardy).

The trailer dropped today and it looks spoooooky, ya'll. I'm a huge fan of The Conjuring universe, and this one is already looking super dark. Who else is excited for it?

HOLY SHIT. You guys, I'm not sure if I can fully comprehend what I watched. I don't want to over-hype this or anything but...Hereditary is going down as the scariest movie I've seen yet. Yes, that is quite the lofty statement but I would be wrong if told y'all it wasn't. Now, I'm going to try and be as thorough but as vague as possible because I don't want to give anything away, so bear with me!

New "Charlie" trailer for HEREDITARY. HOLY HELL.

I have been impatiently waiting for 2018's Hereditary to be released (June 8th) so this new trailer that was just released is making me even more antsy!  You guys, it looks INTENSE.

Prior to its release, there was some studio hooplah with Annihilation and whether it would garner any kind of love from moviegoers as Paramount said it was "too intellectual". They weren't wrong- the movie made me sit back and think the entire time I was watching it, but it wasn't a bad thing.  I admit, I felt a bit stupid at times during my viewing, but I appreciated that and don't particularly care for my movies to spoon feed me every bit of a scene.  However, as more and more people see the movie, I can only imagine how divisive this one will be but I can say with every bit of me- IT WAS SO GOOD.

The Triangle (2016)

A found footage movie about a "cult"?  Sign me up!  I had actually heard about The Triangle (not to be confused with '09s time-bending Triangle) a while back, but what drew me to it (ff and cults) was also what turned me off to rushing to see it.  As I've mentioned several times before, the sub-genre is a guilty pleasure of mine, but also one that is FULL of more misses than hits, so I usually go into these with some trepidation; not to mention most horror flicks about cults seem to follow the same formula.  I was sure The Triangle was going to follow in the same footsteps as movies like The Sacrament, but lemme tell ya, I was pretty surprised by this one.

You know something is up when a movie was shot 4 years before it's release, and when done so, is shown for only one night (Halloween) at 10pm.  It also seems like Bella Thorne is 0-2 when it comes to horror movies she stars in that end up in distribution hell with shit releases (Amityville: The Awakening).  There's a quote that floats around about not getting your hopes up, so then you won't be let down- that can definitely be applied to Keep Watching.

When a movie immediately starts off with the implied death by train of an infant, you know you've stumbled on something wild.  It's not every day that you get to see a movie with Nic Cage intentionally acting insane because that's what his role calls for; and it's not too often that we get to see a movie where the parents are the ones going psycho and killing their children.  Mom and Dad ticked off a lot of boxes for me in terms of fun and silly.

There's probably a lot to unpack about Cronenberg's eerily prophetic sci-fi-ish horror flick, Videodrome, when it comes to society and mass media but honestly I feel like I wouldn't be saying anything that hasn't already been waxed over by other sources.  I can, however, attest to the fact that Cronenberg was definitely on to something (whether he thought his ideas would ever actually come to fruition or not) with mass media/technology/reality tv becoming something that almost rules our lives these days.
