Keep Watching (2017)

Running Time: 1hr 29min
Release Date: Oct 31, 2018
Written by: Joseph Dembner
Directed by: Sean Carter

Review by: Stacey

You know something is up when a movie was shot 4 years before it's release, and when done so, is shown for only one night (Halloween) at 10pm.  It also seems like Bella Thorne is 0-2 when it comes to horror movies she stars in that end up in distribution hell with shit releases (Amityville: The Awakening).  There's a quote that floats around about not getting your hopes up, so then you won't be let down- that can definitely be applied to Keep Watching.

Mercy (2016)

Running Time: 1hr 30min
Release Date: June 4, 2016 (Los Angeles Film Festival)
Written/Directed by: Chris Sparling

Review by: Stacey

Not to be confused with the 2014 movie of the same name starring Carl from The Walking Dead, 2016's Mercy was acquired by Netflix sometime this year after having its premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival.  Now, Netflix has a pretty good track record with their original series, but when it comes to their original movies I'm actually pretty in the dark about those.  And as we all know, Netflix isn't the best when it comes to having a variety of quality horror.

I decided to give Mercy a chance taking into consideration the streaming site's top tier series selection, hoping that maybe their horror films would follow suit.

Hush (2016)

Running Time: 1hr 21min
Release Date: April 8, 2016
Review by: Stacey

After director Mike Flanagan proved with his 2011 film, Absentia, that he could make an effective horror film with a small budget and a simple concept, I didn't have any reservations about his latest effort, the home-invasion thriller Hush.  Where his other films rest more on the supernatural angle, Hush gives us a moderate-paced flick that is actually pretty damn frightening.

Emelie (2015)

Running Time: 1hr 20min
Release Date: March 4, 2016

I think at some point or another we've all seen the ultimate evil babysitter movie, The Hand That Rocks The Cradle.  Rebecca De Mornay perfectly portrayed the crazed killer with a vendetta against the Bartel family for ruining her life.  While not even on a scale that grand or complex, Michael Thelin's feature film debut, Emelie, attempts to channel from the same psychological well.
