A tagline I can get behind!  New Year's resolutions are for the birds, anyway.  Instead of telling yourself that you're going to start working out more or hating people less (that's going to be a hard one for me), why not ring in the new year by escaping a crazed killer calling himself "Evil"!?

I know, I know, it's only Monday but if I waited until Thursday to post these videos that have been collecting dust, Ash would have my head on a stick.

Holy shit, this movie pissed me off so much in a way that I didn't think was possible just from watching a movie.  I think the last time a movie made me legit angry was when I saw Kevin Smith's Red State (for obvious reasons), but Amber Alert was aggravating to me on a whole other level.

The Vanishing (1988)

Wow, that was a depressing doozy to watch.  The Vanishing (or Spoorloos) is a Dutch-French film that proves it doesn't need blood and guts to be horrifying.  There's a realism to everything about the film that will leave a lasting impression on you well after the ending credits roll. 

Circle (2015)

Running Time: 87 minutes

A group of people stuck in a room or confined area with no recollection of how they got there and all faced with imminent death unless they follow a set of rules or vote, usually until one person is the victor/survivor.  That's a basic premise of more than a few films we've seen (Cube, Saw, Exam), and really, when you've seen one it's easy to say you've seen 'em all.  Circle takes all the familiarity of those films and adds a little bit of an interesting sci-fi touch.

Cruel & Unusual (2014)

If you've seen this before you're probably thinking "what the heck, SB, this isn't a horror movie"- and you're totally right, it's not, but the shit these characters had to go through was pretty damn scary.  And I can do whatever the heck I want on my blog. YEAH.  Canadian thriller, Cruel & Unusual, is like a weird mashup of Carnival of Souls and Groundhog Day that takes an interesting turn by the final scene of the film.

2015 has been a great year for indie horror with films like It Follows, Cooties, and Creep.  Anthony DiBlasi's (Dread, Cassadaga) supernatural flick about a rookie cop and a cult fits right with the likes of those listed and gave me some major creeps.
