Synopsis: GREEN ROOM is a brilliantly crafted and wickedly fun horror-thriller starring Patrick Stewart as a diabolical club owner who squares off against an unsuspecting but resilient young punk band. Intense, emotional, and ingeniously twisted, Green Room is genre filmmaking at its best and most original. Saulnier continues to build his reputation as one of the most exciting and distinctive directors working today, with a movie that's completely different from his previous, highly acclaimed Blue Ruin, but which is just as risk-taking and even more full of twists. The entire cast deliver first-rate performances, but Patrick Stewart gives a transformative and brilliantly  devious turn as Darcy-elegant yet lethal, droll yet terrifying, Stewart makes the film simply unforgettable.

Martyrs (2016)

Yes, they have remade Martyrs.  I feel like I have to start off saying that because apparently a lot of people didn't know that this was even a thing.  From the time that news broke that the Goetz Brothers (Scenic Route) had already filmed the movie- shocking (and pissing off) everyone- it didn't stand a chance in the horror community.  The French 2008 original, which is usually lumped into the category of "French extreme horror" (Inside, Haute Tension, Frontier(s)) and one of my absolute favorites, left a pretty big impact on the folks that have watched it.  And for good reason- that shit is brutal, and dark, and haunting, and heartbreaking, and and and... you get the idea.

Oh yeah, we're talking about the remake, right?  Yeah, that version wasn't any of those things.

Lyle (2014)

Usually if a movie mirrors too much of an earlier film and isn't a remake, we're gonna have some problems.  That would be said about director Stewart Thorndike's Lyle if it wasn't so damn good.  What we got was a modernized take on Rosemary's Baby without it feeling like a total rip-off.

A tagline I can get behind!  New Year's resolutions are for the birds, anyway.  Instead of telling yourself that you're going to start working out more or hating people less (that's going to be a hard one for me), why not ring in the new year by escaping a crazed killer calling himself "Evil"!?

I know, I know, it's only Monday but if I waited until Thursday to post these videos that have been collecting dust, Ash would have my head on a stick.

Holy shit, this movie pissed me off so much in a way that I didn't think was possible just from watching a movie.  I think the last time a movie made me legit angry was when I saw Kevin Smith's Red State (for obvious reasons), but Amber Alert was aggravating to me on a whole other level.
